Chunky Steak Sandwich with Caramelised Onion, Rocket & Rich Brown Gravy

Try these great tasting steak sandwiches for a backyard favourite with an up-market twist. The combination of tender steak, fresh bread and rich gravy is a taste that all the family will love. 
 

Ingredients

  • olive oil spray
  • 2 brown onions, sliced
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 4 x 150g minute steaks
  • 8 thick slices, sourdough bread
  • 1 packet Continental® Brown Onion Gravy
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 bunch rocket
     

Instructions

  1. Preheat a barbecue until quite hot. Lightly spray the hot plate with oil and place onions on hot plate, lightly season with black pepper and allow to cook for 10 minutes, or until the onion starts to caramelize. Pour over the balsamic vinegar and cook a further 2-3 minutes, keep warm to one side.
  2. Lightly spray the hotplate again and place steaks on hot plate, cook 1-2 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your liking. Place the bread slices onto the grill plate and toast lightly, remove from barbecue.
  3. Prepare the Rich Brown Gravy following packet instructions. Place four slices of the bread onto a board, top each slice with some caramelized onion, tomato, the steak and spoon over the Brown Onion Gravy; top with rocket and remaining slices of bread.
